Dear Sir/Madam
Please do accept our warm greetings.
We, in the EMDHR, are yet very sad once again to learn about the fate of another 450 Eritrean nationals of which 56 are women and about 7 are young children between the age of 2 and 4 who are presently in detention in the Great Socialist People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya facing imminent deportation to Eritrea. We have also confirmed that pregnant women are part of this unfortunate crowd.

According to the information we received from Libya, these innocent Eritrean are detained in a place called MASRATA 250 km from Tripoli held in such a harsh condition that includes beating from the police officers.
Your Excellency, Please allow us to mention once again the unfortunate incidents of deportations in 2004 who were subjected to unspeakable torture and inhuman treatments in the hands of the Eritrean authorities upon their arrival in Eritrea.
In light of the above facts, should these vulnerable Eritrean nationals are subjected to a similar treatment, their destiny is a forgone conclusion. As you are well aware of, this kind treatment upon these very vulnerable people is in contravention of Article 12 of the 1979 African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights and Article 33 of UN Convention on refugee affairs.  We, therefore, respectfully request the commission to give the matter an utmost attention and save the lives of these helpless Eritrean nationals.
We do relay on the African commission on human and peoples’ rights to address this unfortunate situation and reverse their deportation proceedings and provide them with complementary protection.
Your kind consideration is highly appreciated.

Respectfully,

[signed]

Samuel Bizen Chairperson, EMDHR
